Flash Bulb Control

Control of Flash Bulb

Design Notes:

Protection Application:
Control of flash bulb activity

The capacitor stores the charge that will be used to light the flash bulb.

The off-state voltage of the SCR is high enough to block the DC current.

When the camera logic sends the appropriate pulse on the Flash Control line, the gate of the SCR is turned on.

The Anode/Cathode path transitions to conductive mode and IT is allowed to discharge from the capacitor and activate the flash bulb (through the step-up transformer).
