  • 1. What made you want to get into engineering? And specifically, your specialization?
    My dad and grandfather were both engineers, and were always fixing something around the house. I always loved to watch them work and help where I could. It was so amazing to me that they could figure out how everything worked just by playing around with it for a while. I wanted to be able to do that too. I guess my love of math and science led me towards mechanical engineering, where you can design cars, roller coasters, or just about anything you want. Creativity also plays a large role in design, so I get to use my love of arts and crafts as well to help think outside the box.

  • 2. What advice would you give freshly graduated engineers?
    I think it’s important for every engineer to actually work in engineering for at least a few years before moving into sales, marketing, etc. You may learn a lot in school, but hands on projects are where I learned the most.

  • 3. What has been a project that you have worked on that you are proud of or that has been most interesting to you?
    I’ve enjoyed working on several power distribution module designs at Littelfuse including the FLEC. When I first came here, my “mission” was to help develop products for a new market to Littelfuse (off-road truck and bus – now called Commercial Vehicle Products.) It was fun to be a part of something new, and to help lead designs using my background and experience in this area. Developing the product roadmap for this segment was exciting, since I was relied on for a lot of market and product knowledge. I appreciated the respect and trust that our team here – including upper management – had in me to help with this effort.

  • 4. What is your favorite part about your job? Why?
    I enjoy working directly with the people buying our products. It helps you better understand why certain features are required when you actually see the vehicles and production lines that use these products. It is also exciting to find new sales opportunities with key customers that may lead to new product developments in engineering.
